Studying in the Netherlands

Do you want to apply for an educational institution, you have to apply via Studielink or via the website from the institution. If you have difficulties applying via Studielink you can contact the Helpdesk Studielink on +31 (0)884247600.

For some courses, lots have to be drawn (in view of a quota). Educational institutions all have their own rules for admission. Therefore, always contact the institution of your choice. If you intend to take up a higher education course, do not forget to visit the website nuffic.nl. This website covers a variety of subjects, especially for foreign students.

In order to better compare the various studies available in Europe, a uniform educational system will be introduced throughout Europe. This system comprises two phases: a bachelor phase and a master phase. The system already applies to most studies in the Netherlands.

In some cases, foreigners are eligible for a student grant for a course in the Netherlands. When you are an exchange student (and therefore not registered at a Dutch institution of education) you are not entitled to a study grant. If you want to find out whether you are eligible for a grant, based on your nationality or residence permit, check out the nationality chart.
