Recognition

General Conditions

When applying for recognition, it is important that you are aware of the basic conditions. This means that among other things:

  • you must be able to prove that in your country of origin you are entitled to practise the occupational activities concerned

  • at a minimum you must possess an overseas diploma for a comparable profession or one level below this in your country of origin

If you are unable to directly meet all of the conditions set out in detail in the regulations, it is still possible in some instances to obtain recognition. For example, after a period of assimilation work experience or after testing. You will be informed on this once your application has been assessed.

EU citizens requesting recognition will be assessed in accordance with the ‘Algemene Wet Erkenning Beroepskwalificaties’ (the general recognition of professional qualifications act), as detailed in the ‘Regeling erkenning EG-beroepskwalificaties’ (Regulations for recognition of EC professional qualifications).
